I am having trouble with editng my website. I can open it with edit in FP
online. I can change some areas, and then I am stuck. I cannot out how to
save and publish. HELP!!

If you are editing it online, make sure you have the web open, not just the
page. Then, save. That's it. No need to publish. It's already there.

You should really be working on your web locally to make changes, then
publish.

I must not have it opened right, because it is not saving anything.
I am working on a website that was handed down to me. I just installed FP
03, and was told just to go to the site, edit with FP. It is not that easy!!!
HELP!!!

Open FP
File | Open Site
here you will enter the URL... http://www.yourwebsite.com
you'll be prompted for your un/pw and then the live site will open within
FP...keep in mind you are editing live (without a safety net) using this
method.

You really should be editing the site on your local machine then publishing
changes up to the server.

IF you were using "Edit with FrontPage" from your IE browser toolbar...your
changes may not get done properly...or at all...so don' do dat.

hth.

O.K. It is not working anyway. So...can you explain to me how to do it the
right way????

OR...since I would like to revamp the site, would it be easier to start from
scratch and then replace what is there???

What's not working anyway?

Having opened your site as above;

File | Publish
NOW ENTER your local website folder...something like: C:\My Documents\My
Webs\grandmaswebsite (note this can be named anything you want without the
..com etc) now publish it you the chosen location.

Close Site when done.

Now always open your local website FIRST.

Open FP
File | Open Site
browse to your local site location C:\My Documents\My Webs\grandmaswebsite
(or whatever you called it)

Do all your editing locally then publish up to the server
(http://www.yoursitename.com) - this does NOT have to match your local site
name - grandmaswebsite )

IF the above is not working for you, come back with specifics of what
did/did not happen.

btw...all that assumes that you have FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE)
installed and working on your server.
