I am trying to edit an existing design template from the ones available at my office to create one that can be used by a team of people. In the Master View I enter the title I want and make some other changes and everything looks correct. But when I go back to the normal view the text box doesn't contain the title I entered, but says click here to add your title.

How do I edit the master and have my changes remain, so that I can save as a unique design template that I can send to other people to use?

You need to be careful as to which "Master" you are entering your
information - Slide Master, or Title Master. My guess is that you changed
it on the wrong one. Also, did you use one of the built in placekeepers
(title text box), or did you create your own text box?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

In Master View the placeholders for Title Area for AutoLayouts, SubTitle
Area for AutoLayouts and Object Area for AutoLayouts are only for showing
the formatting (not content) which will be reflected on slides which follow
the masters formatting. They cannot be used to force default text (such as
a default Slide Title) to appear on each new slide.

You can add a new text object (not a placeholder) and the text that you put
in that text box will appear (uneditable) in exactly the same way on each
slide that follows that master (and which does not omit background
graphics).

The text that you enter into the Date Area, Footer Area, Number Area and
Header Area (Handout and Notes masters only) placeholders, however, will
appear (uneditable) on slides which follow that master and on which the
appropriate headers and footers settings have been set to make them visible.

Perhaps PowerPoint doesn't provide the functionality that you are looking
with regard to slide design formatting.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
