Is there a way to pause the video while the alternate audio plays and then
bring it back say 3-4 secs later? I can move the clip but it does not put any
blank space in between like a pause. Thanks.

Try this....

1) Make a screencap of the video at the
point you wish to pause.

2) Save the screencap and re-import it.

3) Split the video at the pause point and
insert the screencap.

4) Add your sound file for the pause to the
Audio/Music track. You may have to manually
adjust the duration of the screencap to match
the audio.
