I have an Access database that has worked beautiful for some time, however,
all the sudden has disabled my ability to add/edit records to a linked table
(table is linked to an .xls file). What would have made this change, and how
do I change it back to allow edits/additions to this linked table.

Hi, Lance.
What would have made this change, and how
do I change it back to allow edits/additions to this linked table.

If you have MS Office Access 2003 and just installed MS Office SP-2, or if
you have MS Access 2002 and installed the KB904018 update (issued three weeks
ago) on your computer, then you will experience this new problem. It's not a
bug. It's by design, because Microsoft had some legal issues about this so
disabled this feature for its customers.

If you have installed MS Office 2003 SP-2, then it can't be uninstalled.
You'll need to revert to an earlier backup of your computer or else uninstall
Office (yes, the entire suite if it's installed on your computer, not just
the stand-alone Access application), then reinstall it and apply SP-1, but
not SP-2.
