Mine gives me one option, notepad. When I get that, I
get a bunch of gibberish. I've had choices on my older
O.S. I have Windows XP on a Dell computer. How can I
get more options for editing pages on the Internet?

Thank you.

Don, thank you for answering my query. However, I'm not
used to the fomat and can't tell what it is I'm supposed
to do to solve my problem. Could you give me another
hint? Thanks!

Val,
Having the Edit button puts you most of the way there. You need to get to
Folder Options> File Types (from Ctrl Panel in XP, I think)

Find HTML document in the list.
Select it.
Click Advanced.
Select Edit then Click Edit.
Browse to the program you want to use.
OK your way out.
You might have to go through the same procedure for HTM document.

Hope this helps,
Don

Now from IE> Tools> Options> Programs you should be able to select either
one as the default.

Don, your advice was very good and I now know how to add
a edit program to my Internet toolbar. I still have a
problem though inasmuch as it all seems to be gibberish.
On my old WIN98 computer, it showed the page as it was
and now it showes paragraphs which tell about content but
don't show it. Is there a setting which take care of the
formatting for me?

Thanks again, Val

Sorry, I don't know what you're seeing or what you used to see. Are you
viewing source for CSS pages, which don't look like regular HTML. Or were
you previously using a WYSIWYG editor like FrontPage or FPExpress?

I'm not (trust me) an HTML expert <G> but post back and maybe someone else
will jump in.

Word can also be used, but it doesn't generate very good HTML code.
