My web server doesn't support FP extensions and I just FTP my pages and
stuff. All works fine & I can conveniently update things from home or away,
except FP keeps creating extra folders of stuff and forcing me to rename
pages with new names apparently trying to maintain a web structure that does
not actually exist at all. I'd like to turn off all that, to stop it from
trying to support a 'web', and just edit HTML. Following the instruction for
deleting a 'web' just gives an error beep... Is there hope?

You can not disable this function, as FP is designed to create and manage web sites, not individual
pages outside of a web site structure. The next version (Expression Web Designer) will allow you to
do this.
