edit guestbook

i did a search for how to edit the guestbook and it talks about opening the
site live and then doing the edit however, front page gives me an error
message that it cant find the page or it is in an inaccessable location that
may be password protected or it has / or\ in the name ? What can I do to
edit these pages? Is it ok to do this live on my server control panel?
 
Do not edit FP pages in a FP site w/ anything but FP

Open you online site in FP only
- easy way is to browse to the home page in IE and select File Edit w/ FP
