This may be a very simple question. I recently upgraded
to Excel XP. I do not see the Edit Formula "=" sign
available on the bar. Is this feature still available and
I just do not see it? Thanks

Alan,

Do you know if any way to revert XP to the fuctionality
of the = sign? With the =, you could expand on data that
was alread in the cell..."Insert Function" deletes
existing data in the cell.

Thanks,
Drew

I am only a beginner myself.

If you click on a cell that has a formula containing several functions, and
you put the insertion point on the function name, then click on Fx, it will
give you the dialogue box for that function. You can click on any function
name in your formula and it will give you the dialogue box for that
function, including all the partial results, so that you can see where your
errors are.

If you want to insert a new function put the insertion point in at the spot
you want it and either type it in or choose it from the list.

Hope this makes sense

Alan

Not quite the same, but maybe you could drag the = icon to your favorite toolbar
(directly above the formula bar).

You can get to that = icon via:

Tools|customize|Commands Tab|Insert Category.
(about half way down for me.)

Thanks for the tip. Your right, it's not the same
functionality but I like it better than the fx pop-up
window.
