Edit/delete photos on E drive disc

After burning photos to a rw disc windows xp will not allow me to rename or delete one photo at a time. It says they are a read only file. When I had windows me ,idon't think i had this problem. Am i doind something wrong or is that just thi way it is with xp?
 
You cannot delete one file at a time from a CD-RW if you used XP to copy to
the CD. You can only delete all of them. You can do it if you use software
like Roxio to copy to a CD-RW.
