Hello people.
Today is my first day playing with WMM. i like it a lot and get well with
the application.
Now I've got a question. I 've got a file i want to edit, specifically want
to delete a video effect done with letters. the only way i see to do this, is
to edit the movie, clip by clip and modify the 25 clips involved in the video
effect. that's a lot to do considering that I plan to edit every clip in
Paint. and bring it back to the movie. Sorry for being so newcomer. Any ideas
how to do this as proffessional as possible.

Another question: Any way to especify the start and end time (trimming) for
a clip, on a text box or

Sorry...but it's not real clear what you are trying
to accomplish.

First...are you running WinXP or Vista?

Second...if you are using MS Paint...I must assume
your "clips" are still images and not videos?

How did you add the unwanted Effect in the first place?
If it happens to be a Title...just go to...Timeline /
Title Overlay...track and right click delete it. If the
Effect was text that you added in an editing program...
re-editing will be necessary, I suspect I would just
import unedited copies of the same pix and delete
the current ones.

Third...are you working with the .mswmm project
file or have you already saved (published) the movie
as a .wmv or .avi? IOW...are you now working
with a project file or a finished video? If it is the
project file you can remove effects by right clicking

And...if you are creating a project from still shots...
I'm not sure what you are trying to "Trim"?

Finally...if the project is still shots...PhotoStory 3
would be a better app.

Hello John, Thanks for the reply.
Next:
First; I'm using Windows XP. The video effect was not done by me. It's a
movie I received and that I want to edit deleting that video effect, The
effect is a couple of words that fade in and fade out.

Second; I split the movie, separating the 25 frames involved in the effect.
then i save each one as an image to edit them in paint.

Third: I'm working with the .mswmm project.

Your reply would be very appreciated

Since the file you have is a completed movie
file...editing effects is not an option. Removing
the frames that are affected would be the only
solution I can think of.

FWIW....Maybe the following info will be useful:

Movie Maker 2.1 only displays every
other frame. In order to see all frames, the
following info from PapaJohn may be useful:

===

Movie Maker 2 shows you every-other-frame
when doing project editing. MM1 and Movie
Maker in Vista show you each frame.

It's usually not a problem when skipping over
the in-between frames, but sometimes you
notice a flickering frame in a clip that is a 'stray',
and you can't see or cut it out.

If you apply the Slow - Down - Half video effect
to a clip in the timeline, you are then seeing
each frame rather than every other one. You
can see the problem frame and split it out.
Then remove the effect from the clip to return
it to normal.

Try uploading your movie to the following
site and post the download link here. I'll
download it and see if I have any other
ideas.

"YouSendIt"
http://www.yousendit.com/

All you have to do is enter an e-mail
address in the "To:" (Recipient) field
and click the "Browse" button to select
the file you wish to upload. Then click
the "Send It" button.

The next screen that appears will give
you the download link. Just copy/paste
the link into your newsgroup reply.

Also include details in your reply of
exactly what you wish to change about
the movie clip.

Ok, John, here is the link:

This is what I'm trying to do: Starting the video it appears the words
"Portugal 1994" with a Fade in / fade out video effect. I want
to put out those words and effect.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion

Okay...I downloaded the file and had a look.
(maybe some of the pros will give it a look
and offer some ideas)

The only suggestion I can think of would be to
edit individual frames as you were first trying
to do or possibly add an overlay to simply
cover it up.

Maybe the following links will offer some ideas:

Looking at the movie it appears the title sequence is over a still part of
the movie, so depending on your software, if I was to do this, I'd take a
single frame, make a mask to cover the title sequence and apply this to my
movie.
Not sure if you cna do this in paint and to apply a mask like that in MM
requires suing externally made xml files, so not easy.
Whereas more pro software, I use photoshop and Edius for editing would
handle that quite easily.

Easiest option is to put a new title over it, so it looks like something is
supposed to be there. Something I've done where the customer requires a
really cheap job :) Again, not easy in MM though.

http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/ for help with the xml

Ok fellows. I'll check on both suggestions; The overlay and the mask. First
I'll read and catch up myself with the Xml files, cause I just started
palying with this application. But you gave me the answer that I needed: It's
not quite easy to edit a completed movie file. Anyway I'm planning to
dedicate more time in making and editing movies, so What softwares would be
fine for someone who wants to go deeper into this activity?

Thanks for your support.

Adobe premiere elements
Ulead videostudio
pinnacle studio

Vegas do a budget version as well, may be a second place with Ulead, but
I've not used it, though it is based on their very good semi pro app.
