echo in speakers

Help...my husband played with our computer setup and now there is an echo in the speakers. Music sounds terrible and its driving me nuts...anything I can do?
 
Check that the microphone is muted?

Also check that any sound enhancing features of your card are turned off. This
could be either a 3d effect slider in your volume control, a seperate program
for your card that has sound effect or environment settings, or a setting in
whatever program you are using to play music.
