EBCs (Electronic Business Cards)

Done the MS tutorial for creation/editing EBC in Outlook 2007.
Downloaded templates - they come into Outlook as a fictional Contact
complete with the designed EBC.
But I can't figure out how to get the EBC design from this fictional contact
into a real contact!

you need to delete the data from the contact and publish it then set it as
default for new contacts.
See http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/businesscard.asp for more info.

Wow! Sledgehammer to crack a nut!!! All I wanted was to use one of the MS
Business card Templates to change my own Business Card! Dont want to change
everybody's!! I had assumed when I downloaded a template, I could simply
apply it to the business card of a selected contact! Not possible?

There are ways to apply it to one, but the biz card image will not apply to
the contact. You'll either need to edit the contact so it used the same
layout or copy and paste the info to the new form if you want to use the new
biz card.

mmm.. well thanks Diane. Although it does not sound right to me. Why create
a tutorial which shows in detail how to edit/design your own business card,
and then offer template downloads as an alternative to design from scratch,
but the downloaded templates are not usable!! I know MS can be obtuse, but
this seems strange even for them! ;)

The templates are usable - the biz card can't be replaced on existing
contacts. Remove the name etc from the contact form and publish it and you
can use the form for new contacts.

You can't replace the biz card in existing contacts because it would destroy
biz cards you customized - for example, I have several that came attached to
email that have company logos on them. I have others I created with specific
background colors or background images so I can spot them better. If I need
to replace the form used, say to add a custom field to the form, I can
replace the form to get the new field on all contacts without losing the
current biz card.
