I was thinking of siging up with ebay.

but i am not sure since reading alot of comments about people getting rip off.

Is there a setup fee for ebay.co.uk

alrite mate

i would recommend ebay there is no setup fee as far as im aware

heres my advice:

1. if ur going to setup a paypal account make sure u use a bank account with little or no funds
just incase!
2. when making a bid make sure u are sure that u want the item and are willing to spend that money

as u will be aware there is a rating system on ebay, where each user can leave feeback after a sale

ive seen both positive and negative feedback left by some people

i dont think u have a lot to worry about of course some people get ripped off but u just got to watch ur back

good luck mate

Nope, its free! There are a few people ripped off, but you just have to use your comon sense - just as you would if you were buying from the local paper etc...

I know lots of people that use it (including myself) without problems :)

I have been using Ebay for a while now ... and only been kinda ripped off once lol

Just check there rating ... feedback etc etc

I hardly ever buy off someone with a low rating ... that's just me lol I always check their spelling etc How much they have put into the layout and details of the product ...

Also i ONLY buy from people who have taken the picture THEM SELVES ... i NEVER buy from someone who has easily got the picture off the net ... can't trust them

That's my advice

Give it a go. ebay is great fun.

Like previous posts have mentioned though, just make sure you apply your common sense to all transactions, and if you have ANY doubts about the seller then don't bother buying from them. You can always e-mail sellers first too to see if they can answer any questions you may have.

Hi

I have used ebay to both buy and sell and I have had no real problems. Just think twice before bidding on something that looks to good to be true... especially if it hasn't got long left and the seller has little or no feedback.

that'll be all my accounts then :D

anyway, here's my £0.02:

i've been using ebay for ages, only problem i ever had was when i bought a CRT from it once and it died within a week. can't really complain though, i only paid £20 for it! and TBH, that could just as easily happened if i'd bought it out of the local classifieds.

just remember, if something sounds to good to be true, then it probably is!

there are people out there to try and scam you, but they're usually fairly easy to spot. just follow the advice above regarding feedback etc.

EDIT:

It's amazing what you can find on there! click here

Ive used ebay alot Ive had a few non paying bidders but most of my auctions finish with no problems for the people buying my stuff.

I`d like to second the "If its too good to be true" statement previously made by the Rt Hon. RedeyesUK. Dont hesitate to ask why a seller is...err.... selling something, esp. if it seems like the ultimate bargain.

E.G... there was an X800 of some kind up a few days ago... No mention of it in the original propaganda, but when asked the seller admitted it was missing a memory chip. Draw your own conclusions.

Having said that, there are some excellent bargains on there, I wouldnt have the computer I do now if it wasnt for ebay. :)

wow, i'm honoured :o

here's a classic example of 'caveat emptor': clicky

and a great example of the sort of crap you can find on ebay.

you will notice that the winning bidder has a -1 feedback rating, this is the sort of person you want to steer well clear of (what do you think the chances are of him paying up?)

and as for the item sold, well make up your own mind. would you honestly pay £430 for what is, after all, a bit of paper with some numbers on it?

having said that, i'll be well gutted if it wins......
