Eazylook failure with TV Wonder VE & MMC8.8

Simon

I bought this piece of crap card months ago. The ATI software never
worked so I chucked the ATI CDs and used dScaler, which works fine.

This evening, on a whim, I decided to check the ATI site to see if
they ever fixed their crappy software.

Alas!

As instructed, I upgraded DirectX and Win Media Encoder and then I
installed the ATI software in the order specified: DAO/MDAC, ATI TV
Wonder drivers, Multimedia Center.

MMC works (I can see and hear TV, I can record, play CDs, etc.)
HOWEVER, every time I open CD, VCD, or TV from the Launch Pad, or from
the Start menu, I get the following error message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ATI MMC: EAZYLOOK failure

EAZYLOOK can not be started because of out of date display drivers
Please ensure that you have installed the latest Radeon display
drivers
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I click OK, and the program loads fine.

Well I don't have a Radeon card; I have the TV Wonder VE for capture
and an ndvidia card outputting to dual monitors.

Anyway, from what I understand, eazylook is for those remote control ,
which I don't have anyway.

Does anyone know how to get rid of EAZYLOOK. Don't need it, don't want
it, and it just keeps throwing up this stupid error message.

IT'S A *WONDER* ANYONE CAN WATCH TV AT ALL WITH AN ATI CARD!!!!!!!!!!

As you stated EZlook is for remote control and only systems with Radeon
based cards. I didnt see a way to remove it once installed ( i never did get
MMC 8.8 to work with my Audigy sound card) but during install if you choose
custom install you can uncheck the EZlook software and then it should not
install. So...if you feel like the hassle you should be able too uninstall
it and re-install without the EZlook feature. I have not tried this myself
as i isaid 8.8 is a no go for me period but i would think this would work.

Thanks, Ed

Unfortunately EZlook does not show up as an option under a custom
install -there is no way to install MMC without it. According to the
Help, it can be turned off via the configuration settings, but that
option does not appear either.

Oh well.

I had the exact same issue...

Last I heard is that if you uncheck EazyLook and EazyShare (Why? it isn't
related at all) the problem should go away.

I wouldn't know since I can't be bothered with ATI's crap any longer.
