EAX possible with Audigy SE?

I see that on Creative's web site that EAX is possible with the Audigy SE
using the OpenAL drivers. However, I'm reading other things that state EAX is
only possible with the X-Fi cards.

Does anyone have any answers to this? I can't seem to find a clear-cut
answer to my question. I'm currently using an old SB Live! in Vista. It
works, but of course, it's the older EAX which I cannot get to work, even
with the OpenAL drivers.

Thanks!

It's driver dependent. You have to look at your specific card or the
drivers for your specific card on the Creative site to see whether or not it
is supported. Creative isn't finished with their drivers, in fact, it
appears they are a long way from it. Many of their drivers are still in
beta while in other cases they've released drivers that currently only
support basic functions of their respective card.

I suspect, the older cards may never have anything more then the basic
functions supported. The entire sound sub-system has been reworked in Vista
so, in many cases this might not be fully worked out until they start
releasing cards specifically designed for Vista.
