I'm looking for a _convenient_ way to change folder colors in
XP. I know I can change folder icons to whatever I want using
Properties->Customize->Change Icon, but this is a pain for
many folders and toggling between icons/colors takes too much
work to be handy. At the risk of being burned as a heretic I
admit that what I really want is a way to color labels like
Mac OS X:

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/finder/

Thanks.

According to Google what I want is not a natively available in
XP, but I'm still hoping someone might know of a utility that
adds this functionality to XP.

Derek;
Took me about five minutes to find.

I appreciate your effort, but I too tried Google. I found
Rainbow Folders in about 5 minutes too and concluded it's not
exactly top-notch. The colored folders look bad in XP when
viewed in "list" mode (yes, I checked "Win XP Style") and the
color change has to be done by browsing for folders in a tiny
tree in the Rainbow Folders application. Plus I don't think
colors can be applied to multiple folders at once. In short,
it's not much better than changing the icon in XP natively. :(
