Okay, just when I thought I could exhale a sigh of relief... an error gives
me a show-stopping problem.
I was running Vista 64-bit home premimum and needed to create a dual boot
vista ultimate 64 /32 machine on my laptop. So, while running vista home
premium 64 on my laptop, I opened the Easy Transfer program and followed the
instructions verbatim. All of my data (about 14GB) was saved to a USB
External Hard drive.
Once the data was on my external drive i proceded to format my laptop and
install vista 32 and 64 ultimate. Install went fine but now i am running the
Easy Transfer again but this time it is giving me an error.
"Please select a valid file where your data can be restored from, To select
a file, click browse."
Now, I only have 2 items in my external drive and I did select the "Save
Data.mig" file at 14GB. When I open this file from Explorer, it
automatically launches Easy Transfer...so it must be the right file.
Windows Easy Transfer will chew on the external drive for 30-seconds or so
before giving me an error as stated above. I have tried restarting the PC
and going for the Easy Transfer again, but still no luck.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a
solution anyone knows of...otherwise I'm toast!
Thanks!
Matt
