Hi all,

I've got a problem which I hope that somebody on this forum can help m
with.

I have Office 2000 installed on my PC, and I had the Korean Inpu
Method Editor (IME) installed too, in order to let me write Wor
documents in Korean text.

I recently installed Project 2002, but since then I have lost th
ability to call up the Korean IME. I have tried uninstalling Projec
2002 from the PC, but it makes no difference. I still have som
Office10 files left on my PC after the uninstall too! Maybe they ar
still preventing me from utilising the IME.

Will I have to edit the registry in order to get back to the situatio
I had before? I have also tried re-installing the IME software but wit
no success. I still can't type in Korean text.

If anybody has any experience of this, or suggestions on what to do i
order to get back my Korean IME, then I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert at this but found a relevant article in Microsof
knowledge base.

It appears that Global IME is not supported in Office XP

Hi Ninak,

Yes, I figure it isn't supported by Office XP, otherwise the IME woul
have worked even after my installation of Project 2002.

Would this still cause problems to my IME even after I have uninstalle
Project 2002?

I will check the article you mentioned, and see if it has an
solutions.

If anybody else has a suggestion, please feel free to reply.

Thanks! :)

You may have already found out by now, but I learned that there is
Global IME for Office XP. You need to download that one.

Good luck!

Will Office XP IME work with Office 2000? The only component of Offic
XP I had was Project 2002, and I have uninstalled it, so I'm now bac
to a pure Office 2000 configuration.

I'm a bit worried about installing it in case there are any mor
conflicts between the software I have already installed.

I wish I could help, but the only thing I can think of is:

(1) Experiment the new IME for XP in your spare time, backing u
everything first.

(2) Update your Windows to 2000 or XP. These systems have built-in IME
for smooth operation. I have Windows XP and no problems with East Asia
fonts and can switch between English and Japanese with most everythin
that is important for me. (Unreadable characters appear only in certai
Japanese-developed software when Language Option is in English.)

Good luck.
