Transfering Word 2003 Documents into Front Page 2003 or even making a Web
Page from Word causes picture misplacement paragraph missplacement and a
whole lot of server space taken by duplicate picture files. I am sure there
are ways of customizing this operation but to find them takes a four year
course and by that time they have come out with an update that changes
everything.

It's better to create your page in FrontPage, then Copy/Paste Special (text without formatting) into the FP designed page.

Or you can also Copy/Paste into NotePad then Copy/Paste from Notepad into FP. Both above done just for text not the images.

Then Import the images into FP and place them into your design.

Some people also advocate dragging the Word Document directly into FP. This works too.

I find it easier/cleaner to place the images later.

In addition to Rob's suggestions, you may also want to try this:

it works great.

Don't do your layout in Word. You can edit your text in Word, but don't
convert it to html in Word. You can then drag the .doc file onto an open
page in FP and it will transfer okay. You will keep all of your text
formatting. I do this and it works fine. Then do all your layout in FP, and
place your images in FP. You should not have any problems this way.
