each .wav file plays twice on each slide

I inserted different .wav files (voice) into each of my
powerpoint 2002 slides and published it to the web. The
sound plays normally on my PC but from the web, it plays
the same .wav file twice on each slide almost
simultaneously. It starts the .wav file and then starts
it again 2 seconds later while the first one is still
playing. What's wrong?

When I insert the .wav file I get the question "Do you
want the sound to play automatically or click it" and I
picked play automatically. Something else seems to be
playing it automatically too but just on the web.

You might check your custom animation settings before publishing. When
you play a media file "automatically," PPT still adds a trigger to the
animation so that it will also play (or pause, I believe) when you click
it.

I suspect the conversion to HTML has confused these two and simply
applied an auto transition to both animation settings.
 
Nuts. Your email prompted me to check this, and you are correct, I
messed up.

The auto trigger I described only gets added with movies, not with
sounds. Apologies for giving you misleading information.

So now we're back to square one. Anybody know why Connie's sound would
play twice when published to the web?
