All of a sudden my Windows 2000 system, during windows
startup, emits the following message in a dialog box:

E47250: Incorrect MPEG data format

I'm sure something was destroyed but does anyone know how
I can fix this problem or what to do?

Hopeless again ...

Did you just install something?

"during startup" Perhaps there is a startup location with something
bad in it. Did you examine directory and registry startup locations?

Do regular .MPEG files function?

Have you an unpdated A-V, A-T, A-Spy/Adware ...

Mark,

Thank you for replying. I can't even get into
explorer.exe - in fact this is where the message dialog
box is output, where explorer was being started. The
dialog box has the 'explorer' title, and so this message
is output by explorer.

Any ideas where to look in the registry for this problem?

Thanks!

Perhaps this is it:
http://ktp.e-isa.com/av/Viruses/Gpix.htm

=== excerpt ===
Virus name: GPix
Virus ype: Adware/Trojan

This is an adware trojan that displays adult content advertising
based on the websites visited by the infected user. When run, it
displays a fake error message stating:

"E47250: Incorrect MPEG Data format"

The trojan then copies itself to the WINDOWS SYSTEM (%SysDir%) as
shellexpl.exe, creates a registry run key to load itself at system
startup, and exists.
