I have 4 e-mails from "microsoft.com" warning about
various security bulletins. Possibly legit? I thought ms
did not use e-mails in this manner.

Some devious person is "spoofing" Microsoft. The email message is
not from Microsoft and should be deleted immediately!

Please take a moment to read the following article:

Nope, these are not legit, Microsoft does not email every person possibly
affected every time a new security patch is released. You can be sure those
emails have viruses attached. Delete them promptly!

They don't. Unless you download files from a Microsoft
website, delete all others sent via email.

Hey Folks,

I get emails from MS every time there is an update. It is how they notify
us when there is something new. And yesterday there WERE 4 emails sent out
regarding new updates. What MS DOESN'T do is send those bogus popups. I
think you are confusing real notifications with other things that are truly
bogus. VALID MS notifications are titled "Microsoft Security Bulletin
MSxx-xxx".

Greetings --

That's true, but you only get these bulletins if you've subscribed
to the service; Microsoft won't send such notices unsolicited. I
think the OP would have known if he/she had subscribed to Microsoft's
security bulletin service.
