The Unknown P

I have just started using Outlook
Express for the NG reader. How can I
make sure that my reply appears with the
thread that I am replying to? If I use
reply to sender then I must use my
e:mail program and I don't want to do
that as this would automatically give
out my IP and account info.

Generally, you don't use Reply to Sender anyway. Many of us won't respond
to e-mail answers, or use an invalid address for posting.

Your IP address is always part of the message, whether you do it from e-mail
or as a newsgroup post.

Thanks for the info Doug. I am well aware of that. You didn't answer my
question though. When I attempt to reply to a posting the reply is not
tagged to the initial thread and therefore appears as a new posting and not
as a reply. So when I use the reply to group my reply is not with the thread
that prompted my reply. This doesn't happen in a web reader and maybe a
setting I have missed in Outlook. Although I have been through every tab and
every button.

Greetings --

"Reply to Sender" sends an email just to the individual's posted
email address. "Reply to Group" posts the reply in the discussion
thread.

Two issues here: I did both of these a long time ago...

1) In the main OE window AND the message window, right click a blank area on
the toolbar and select "Customize...". In the dialog box, remove the "Reply
to Sender " button, if there, and add the "Reply to Group" button if not
already there.

2) To change the email address as it appears in posts, Go to
Tools>Accounts...>News tab. Highlight the account, then select "Properties"
button to the right. In the next dialog box, create a fake address in the
"E-mail address" box; forget reply address, or delete your real one if
there.

Note that this WILL NOT affect your ability to receive your regular email;
that information is under the Mail tab.

HTH,

And "Reply All" does both!

Good point.
