Needhelpwithcomputer

I cannot send emails. I am getting the following error message:
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'Re: Dates picked........', Account:
'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '421 Cannot connect to SMTP server 204.127.217.17
(204.127.217.17:25), connect error 10060', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67

A few days back, before this happened, I was having trouble opening an
attachment to a email. I went into the help forum and followed someone's
advice that said to go into Tools, Options, Default message programs, and
click on "make default under this application is NOT the default mail
handler" I clicked on it, and it changed to "this application is the default
news handler". I cannot go back and "unclick" it to restore it back to the
original default as the make default box is not shaded. I think by
originally clicking on this is causing my problems. I don't know what to do.
Can anyone help. Thank YOu

Thank you Gary for trying to help. I think I followed your instructions, but
it did not work, I'm now getting the following error message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test', Account: 'att.yahoo.com', Server:
'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
I'm not too computer literate, and I think I really have messed up this
time. Should I contact Bell South and ask them for help, or is there
something else you can recommend. I can receive, but cannot send.
Thank you so much.

Check those setup instructions again. You missed the fact that the
SSL option must be enabled. Go to Tools, Accounts, select that
account, Properties, Advanced, then check the SSL option for both
servers.

Gary, your amazing. You were right, one of the SSL options wasn't checked.
I can't thank you enough. It's working fine so far, the only difference is I
have to log into my email account the first time I go to use it, but other
than that, back to normal.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. What would this site do without people
like you. I'm pretty useless when it comes to fixing things in my computer,
but with your help, we did it!
