I have recently bought a new Dell computer with Vista and am using Windows
Mail. I received an error message from an e-mail trying to come in, saying
that my High Water Mark had been met. When sending an e-mail, with a photo
attachment, I got a Mail Box Quota message from McAfee, the Message Size
Maximum being 13,568,000 bytes. My file was not nearly that large. I didn't
think there was a quota for e-mail. What's happening?
Thanks

I suspect that the message is actually coming from your mail server and that
you have been leaving messages on the server and never deleting them and now
the server is unhappy. See the advanced properties of the account.

An other person replied that McAfee doesn't work with Windows EMail and to
uninstall. You say my server may not be deleting messages and to see
advanced properties of the account. Were is the advanced properties (under
Tools?) and what setting needs to be changed. I suppose I should try this
before uninstalling McAfee and getting a new virus software?

You may have other mail problems aside from the problems caused
by McAfee. The thing is, the other problems (if any) can't be diagnosed
properly until McAfee is out of the way. When you get a "Mail Box Quota"
message from McAfee, you know that McAfee is messing with things it
has no business messing with.

I am running McAfee and Windows Mail with zero problems.

Windows Mail is not compatible with McAfee antivirus.
It will need to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

You are lucky. McAfee is like a disease with a long incubation
period. Sooner or later the symptoms start showing.

I want to make IncrediMail my default e-mail program and not the Windows
mail but it won't let me. Please advise if you know the trick. Thanks!

I don't think Incredimail is compatible with Vista yet..
According to their download page, they are looking for beta testers for the
Vista version.

Amazing! The IncrediMail developers are just now getting around to
beta testing a Vista compatible version. Where have they been?
(Not that I've been waiting with bated breath...)
