E-mail to all contacts in a category

Guest

I have set up several categories within Contacts. How do I send an e-mail to all contacts in a catergory without having to set up a separate distribution list? I really don't want to have to continually update the distribution list when I add/delete/change someone in the category list.

In your reply please don't assume I know anything...!

Thanks,

Russ:
I had the same question as Anne. I followed your instructions, but when I click on the "Actions" menu, almost all of the Actions are greyed out (i.e. inactive), including the "New Message to Contact" action. Now what?
Thanks
Jim

Business Contact Mgr
Business Contacts in BCM
View: By Category (the "Current View" radio button)

Then I click on the header for the desired Category, and click Actions at the top of the screen, but all of the actions except New Business Contact, Call Contact, and Forward as vCard are all greyed out.

I even have one Category with only one member in that category. If I click on the Category header, all the options are greyed out as described above. If I click on the individual contact directly, all the options are active.

Now that you've finally provided accurate information, I'd suggest a new
post that includes all this accurate information. Be sure to put BCM in the
Subject.
I've never used BCM and never plan to.

Sorry. I'm a relative newcomer to Outlook. Didn't realize that "plain" outlook and BCM were so different. So this leads to 2 questions:
1. Are you saying that clicking on the Category to send a mass mailing is not a feature of BCM?
2. Why are you so negative about BCM?
Thanks

No. I would fully expect BCM to have the ability to send to a Category just
like Outlook does. I'm just saying that I've never used it and so have no
way to troubleshoot its problems. I have never seen the problem you are
describing when using the Outlook Contacts Folder. I'm not negative on BCM.
I just don't have a need for it and have no time to play with it.
