e-mail problems

since I installed the update yesterday, I can't send messages to 4 people on
a 21 person group list. what they have in common is a hotmail or msn
address. Is this related to the update? I've changed nothing else on my
computer

I don't see how this could be related to Microsoft Antispyware. What email
application are you using to send from?

Thanks, Bill
I use Eudora with a comcast address. I didn't change anything and didn't
previously have this problem.

Email is a fairly complex beast these days, and most of the complexity is
not on your machine--the vendors--both your ISP and the destination ISP have
spam and antivirus mechanisms of various kinds in place.

If you did a send to the whole address list--you'd have just one message in
the sent mail folder, right? Do you get failure messages for the 4 that
didn't go?

What's the content of those failure messages, if so?

If you don't get failure messages, I think the cause is beyond your
ISP--perhaps these messages are sitting in a spam folder at the recipients
end, or on a web folder.

For my email, which is MSN, there's a spam folder which is only accessable
to me if I connect via the web--I never see that folder via pop3/SMTP. And
I cannot turn the spam filter off completely--I can only set it to "low."

Thanks, Bill
you are right. I could send the message once I deleted the 4 addresses
that had either "error reading from network" or "550 permit denied." Today,
I was able to send to two of the four; the other two still generated the
error messages, so it's likely something individual with these two addresses;
it seems now a coincidence that the 4 were all hotmail/msn and happened just
after I installed the new version of AntiSpyware, and that it had not
happened before. Thanks for your helping me think it through.
