Hi:

I am new to XP, and have been able to fathom most of the issues, however one foxes me. I
am using Outlook as an e-mail program, and have recently installed Thunderbird for a
special client I have.

I find that I am getting a message at sign on that I have x number of e-mail messages. By
putting the mouse over the messages I am told the address that they are being sent to BUT
I don't appear able to access them or, more important, remove the message. They are not
accessible through my e-mail programs (although they do appear to be addresses to the
Thunderbird account since I was testing it out). I can see this getting to be a pain, and
wonder how I find the messages and get rid of them. Again, they do not appear to be
accessible though either of my installed e-mail programs.

Suggestions?

Hi

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx and
when installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go
to Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail message can be disabled via the Registry -
navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress]
- double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change
the value to 0(Zero).
