E-mail merge Hyperlinks not working

I place hyperlinks that appears to be correct into a MS
Word 2002 document. I check all the point too's etc and
it is fine. I merge the doc to automatically send it out
and the hyper links don't work. If I put them into a text
box one that is for a Web page disappears, and one that
ie for an e-mail address works. Can you please tell me
which setting I have wrong.

Yes I have the newest updates for word 2002.
