E Mail Desktop alert

I have Outlook 2003. I have set up to receive Outlook E Mail alerts, only
part I cannot set is to make Inbox my default Inbox. I do not however I try
the settings get the notification.
 
In that case, where is the one that already is the default?

Is the one you're trying to use on an IMAP server?
 
No not on IMAP server. On a standalone PC I have set the connections as far
as I know but I do not get the notification I can preview it Ok but it does
not appear when a new E Mail arrives.
 
We'll the one in Personal Folders should be your default one and the one
where new mail items should be getting dropped. Is that not happening on
your system?
 
So, what did you mean that you can't make it your default Inbox (referring
to your original post)?
 
It was the only setting I could not check. I set up Desktop alerts.
Tools,options,E Mail options, Advanced, Display new mail desktop
alert(default Inbox only), settings. On preview the alert shows OK but it
does not show when new E Mails arrive into the Inbox. I think I have mislead
you in my previous comments, sorry. What I am obviously trying to get is to
show the alert when new E Mail arrive
