Save the file to disk. Then right click on it and choose Open With and then
tell it to use the program you want to use to open it.

I tried to send an e-mail on verizon.net with a Word document attached. It
identified the title as .docx and my recipient can't open it and can't
delete the x . I can't delete the x either. I see that verizon directs me to
send it by windows mail, but I can't open my account because I can't find my
POP3 incoming and outgoing terms. I can't handle all these help sites that
give a string of directions -- am I suposed to print them out or something?
I'm appalled at the lack of help available from verizon. I just recently
bought a new computer with Vista Home and Office 2007, replacing my dialup
service with verizon DSL.

The .docx format is new to Word 2007, and it can't be read by earlier
versions of Word unless you get the special update for those.
The best solution is to configure Word 2007 to save files in the
"Word 97-2003 document *.doc" format.

In downloading a word doc. it defaults to a wordpad document and can't be
read as in XP.
In Works it opens up but what a hassle. I can't find the change default
settings or I'm too dumb to recognize it!
Please help, thank you

I'm new to this, and I'm not meaning to give a reply but it's the only way I
could get something to happen. I really want to ask my own question but can't
get the "new thread" feature to give me a little box to type in....so can
anyone help me? tks..
