e-mail address display

I had the problem that, when I clicked the "To:" button to address an
e-mail, both e-mail addresses and fax numbers appeared in the list. I know
that one method of removing the fax numbers from this list is to put text
before the fax numbers in Contacts; this I have done successfully. However,
the e-mail addresses still appear like this: "John Smith (E-mail)". Is there
any way of removing the " (E-mail)" part, thus displaying simply "John
Smith"?

I'm using Outlook 98 on the computer I'm looking at.
I also have Outlook 2003 on another computer. Will this be different?

Outlook 2003 does not use that format.
For Outlook 98, you need to modify the resources of the contab32.dll file.
