When I try to access my "E" drive for my CD-RW I
get "Incorrect function" then it says "You do not have
access to the folder 'E:/'. See your administrator for
access to this folder."

I AM the administrator...it's my own personal computer at
home.

How do I fix this? I'm using Windows 2000 Pro.

If you read this and can help...please contact me at email
(e-mail address removed)

Thank you,

Jeff

jeff,

i had this similar problem to this at home,

I soon realised that it was to do with the ntfs file
system... this is because to write files to and from the
cd writer the cd must create tempory files in a designated
place

how i sorted this problem was to

click on my computer

double click the c drive (C not cd)

go to edit then select all (this should highlight all
the files turning them blue)

right click the one of the highlighted files and then go
to properties. (this should now show the properties for
all the selected files)

in the permissions section if it is not already there add
a group called everyone.....

give the everyone group full permissions to everything and
make sure the permissions propagate to "subfolders and
file"

then click apply

this should start a rather lengthy proccess of assigning
full permissions to all of your files (allow this process
to complete, and you then should have full access to your
cd rom drive)

hope this helps

Archie
