Hi -
I looked at OsCommerce out of curiosity just now because of your post .
Interesting stuff. It does say it will work in a windows enviroment. I
imagine if you know Php and html, you can integrate it into a FP web. FP (I
use 2003) won't alter your code.
I figure you might Not be interested in purchasable plugins if you're
looking at open source solutions. But I myself use Storefront 6.7AE
software which is a plugin for FP and for DW. It integrates into FP and you
have menus for Storefront right there. Storefront has different levels of
purchasing and can be a little pricy. But the quality is there, and I can
tell you that from experience.
Another FP plugin option is Salescart Pro. It is alot more reasonable in
price ($399 I think). They were one of the first ecommerce software
companies to have a plugin for FP. As I said, I figure you might not be
interested in these, but I thought I'd share. Thanks,...Frank

Thanks! I am interested in your information. Right now I use Microsoft's
Commerce Manager which is really good, but the shopping cart itself does not
have is not adaptable to changes that my customer has requested from me. An
example, is that in the checkout page it asks whether or not the item is a
gift. Well, my customer sells fiber optic connectors, so I asked MS if they
could take that line out. They could not. That is just one example of
requests that they could not do. Overall, it does integrate very well with
FP, but lacks some flexibility.

Why do you need them to integrate?

I created a site in front page and a shop in oscommerce. When they click on
the "Shop" button on the FrontPage developed page, it loads the shop.

Thanks for your response! Maybe integrate is not the right word. I am
looking to see if they can work together and from your response, it looks
like they can. Was it user friendly?

sure it can

you can use the default name "catalogue" during the install

basically use FP to publish to www.yourdomainname.com

create new subweb call it catalogue - install oscommerce
(needs mysql and php host)

make layout changes to oscommerce as necessary. On this
particular subweb use only ftp away you go

There are quite a few preconfigured OSC options available

If you use the notion that you are using 2 seperate upload
types, FP publishing and FTP and you do not mix the 2 up
works fine

Friendly enough.

Changing code in oscommerce is not "front page like code", but for simple
changes it is possible just by reading the code already there.

As far as installation of oscommerce is concerned, I host with Lunarpages
and they had an automated installation all set up. So it was no drama. If
you are installing it yourself, it may be more difficult.

Good luck!

Hi Suzanne,

I saw your posting on Frontpage newgroup about OS Commerce and Frontpage. I
have the same question as you but I just start while you asked this question
in november.
So could you use OS Commerce in Frontpage ?

Jacques
