If DWTs are to stand the test of time, I think that you should allow them to
traverse subsites. This would really make them valuable. As it stands, I will
need to have custom DWTs for EVERY subsite of my web site.

If there is a way to do this type of function not using DWTs, please let me
know.

I also would like to nest DWTs...

Stefan,

My last post to this board (DWT Question...) was answered with no. I was
told that you cannot do it. Which is right?

Try it...

I did try it. I tried to do it before I posted the question. It wasn't
working for me so I asked if it is supposed to work. I am trying to trim a
little time here.

Will DWTs work across sub sites?

Yes it will work, provided the DWT does not have any FrontPage
includes in it. Includes will not work across subwebs.

Here is what I found after spending more time on this. DWTs work as designed
when used within a single web. They can be updated and the changes replicate
properly across the pages they have been connected to.

When you connect to a DWT from another site the changes will apply after the
page has been opened in FrontPage. As soon as the file is opened there is a *
by the file name indicating that there has been a change. This is FP picking
up on the change to the DWT in the other site. This will work if you wanted
to open every page that is connected to a DWT if/when there is a update made.

In hyperlink view on the page connected to the "remote" DWT the link is
shown as broken. Verified several times; still broken. Also the icon for the
broken link shows the DWT with a normal webpage icon instead of the DWT icon
seen when the DWT resides within the site.

I am going to use the DWTs within each site for the solution here. I think
that overall I will have to click less doing it that way rather than opening
each connected page when an update occurs. I can also choose not to update
indivual sites.

With all of the coming shakeup with FP is this ever going to be fixed?
