Are Dynamic Web Templates (extension .dwt) a proprietary Microsoft entity?
If I follow FP's instructions for using them, will the code be clean?
If I don't use them, what are the alternatives? Please advise.
Thanks!

DWTs are also used by Dreamweaver, so are not proprietary. The code is as
clean as you write it.
If you do not use DWTs, you can use ordinary templates, shared borders (I
do not recommend shared borders),create a page and use save-as to generate
similar pages, or any other method of producing the same layout as you can
think of.

Thank you very much!
I wasn't going to use shared borders because our site is being switched to a
SharePoint Services server. DWTs do a nice job.
