On the Excel | Tutorials | 'Dynamic Charts' page of my web site, see
example 2 -- Graph only the last so many entries in a data series.

Thx for the tip. I am trying to do something slightly
different though: my chart line shows daily data for the
past 6 months, but since it is unreadable to display all
value labels, i just want to display the last day's.
right now, I manually select and format the last data
point to display its value, but tomorrow, i would need to
do it again. i would like to find a way to automatically
display the value label of the last data point.
thx

I would suggest charting the past 6 months of data as one series using the
dynamic charting techniques mentioned before. Then add a second series,
again using the dynamic chart technique, that shows only the last value.
Format that second series to show a data label.

Great suggestion thanx. the only problem i have is that
the second query, showing the last data only appears on
the far left of the graph, and not on the corresponding
day on the axis.
Any further advice?
thx

Don't just plot a single point. Put the data at the bottom of the
range, with all blanks above it, and include the blanks in the Y Values
range, so both series have the same number of cells in their ranges.
