Hi all,

If I open the Dynamic help window in VS, why it doesn't show anything when I
move a mouse to a system class say, dictionary. it says "No links are
available for the current select".
Does that mean I didn't install msdn library properly?
I try to use msdn lib on my computer but not from internet microsoft site.

Hi Betty,

As for the dynamic helps, do you mean the MSDN library with Visual studio?
So far the latest MSDN library is the MSDN library for visual studio 2008,
normally I installed it together when install the visual studio and choose
"Full" install. How did you originally install the MSDN library, installed
together with visual studio or have you choosed "full" install?

Also, this MSDN library (for vs 2008) is available for download, you can
choose to install it standalone:

#MSDN Library for Visual Studio 2008
https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6FF3BC60-32C8-4C22
-8591-A20BF8DFF1A2&displaylang=en

BTW, I've also updated you in another "ASP.NET" thread yester, have you
also had a look there?

Sincerely,

Steven Cheng

Just from my experience....
Disable "dynamic help" as soon as possible (google on how to do that).... Do
not bother with why it's not working properly....
Your life will be much brighter :)

Hi Steven,

Not the whole MSDN llib, but only the .net and relevant programming lib.
I remember I have been seeing this one in vs 2003. I don't remember how I
installed vs 2005.

I did reply your thread. You didn't see it. It is very helpful.

By the way, our company use outlook, not outlook express. Every time I
clicked the link replied from MSNotify. It loads nothing. When our company
used lotus notes. It worked fine. Now I have to search the thread in the
browser and discussion forum in order to read reply from the discussion
forum. is there a better way?

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply Betty,

Yes, I saw your reply in another thread also. Thanks for your nice
feedback.

As for newsgroup access, so far we would still suggest using the web
interface if possible. Since that'll provide the most acurate udpate and
notify functions.

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/

for OE, it rely on the NNTP protocol, and for MSDN subscribers, the
authenticate and member identification also have some problem with OE.

For reading/viewing, sure, you can use any web readers or search engines
which can list the newsgroup threads.
