Hi,

I have the following SBS2000 setup;
2 sites connected by 2mb link, 15 hosts using 2k pro & XP Pro.
site A has SBS server and DHCP superscope configured to serve site B
clients and all works fine apart from site B hosts not dynamically
registering with DNS. Site A no problem, i have imagined that if site
A was updating DNS ok then site B should also.
ROuters have DHCP forwading enabled (or DHCP) wouldnt work for site B,
is there something i have missed?
I have DNS set for SBS server first then forward to ISP.

What domain name do you have in site B's scope for option 015?
On the property sheet for the scope for site B on the DNS tab how is it
configured (option 081)

Hi,

i havent used option 015 (domain name), what difference will puttin a
value in here make?

and it only goes up to option 076, not 081

How else will DHCP know where to create the records?
It won't. Put the domain name in option 015 where you want the machines IP
addresses registered.

:

Option 081 IS the DNS tab.
Or I can say the DNS tab IS option 081.

Hi,

i have checked again under the DHCP scope options and there is no
option 081, DNS servers is option 06 which is where i have my DNS
servers, local then ISP.

i have stopped and restarted DNS service and now have DDNS entries
from the B site.

Thanks for your help.

I'll try to state this again, the DNS tab on the scope properties is option
081, you will not find an option 081 listed. When you enable DNS updates on
the DNS tab of the scope properties you have enabled option 81.
