Dumb question. Here goes.
Is it safe to turn off dynamic dns registrations for workstations? We have
thousands of reverse entries that are old and not current. do we need this
at all????
We are using wins with no problem. The problem with ddns is it is not
updating the reverse pointers for the workstations. It would nice to just
eliminate this. I can't think of a reason for it to exist for our
workstations.
Thanks

Maybe You should enable DNS stale records scavenging:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsServer/en/Library/20fbbd82-0cea-4a74-9634-fdd993f4c4f41033.mspx

We have scavenging disabled because it was a security vulnerability.
We are running w2k sp4 dns servers in a w2k active directory environment.
