Hi I am not real familiar with Dynamic disk, but I was wondering if this is possible. Currently we have a W2K server that is set up using only basic disk. It has 2 hard drives. The first hard drive is currently partinioned with a C & D drive the C drive being an IMB pre-load. In addition to these partitions we have some unpartitioned space on this hard drive. We are running out of room on the C drive (was only set up with 4GB) and I was wondering if I convert this to Dynamic disk will I be able to increase the size of my C drive? Or is the only way to still do this is by using a 3rd party product like partition magic or other? Thanks

You will not be able to extend your C: partition on a dynamic disk.

If you have free space adjacent to your current C: partition, an upgrade
install can extend it on a basic disk, or you could use diskpart.exe from a
safe mode with command prompt. See those MS Knowledge Base articles:

A backup and restore would, of course, also work.

You can also use third party applications, but Partition Magic will not
work on a server. Volume Manager, also from Powerquest, will do the work,
though.

Best regards
