Not sure if it is a driver issue. But, the game installs fine, but when my
girlfriend goes to play it, most of the text is black, kind of like it just
shows the shadows, and there is no sound.

Anyone have any ideas that I can try. I tried to install xp on Vmware and
Microsoft virtual pc, but there is no direct3d support, so the game won't
even start up.

Thank you.

Update video card drivers, update sound drivers, run dxwebsetup from
http://www.microsoft.com/direct and try game again.

Tried both. Latest certified and beta driver for video. Latest creative
drivers. Tried installing codecs, which seemed to fix some casino games she
plays, but nothing works. I wish it was something easy. So, any more
suggestions are definitely welcome. Thank you.

When you mentioned codecs, did you mean you installed Direct X 7? After
installing DX7, you might want to try running as admin in XP SP2 compatible
mode. It may sound stupid, but I have found it helps with a lot of issues I
ran across with older games. Anything from missing sound to ghosting
graphics......

Yep, tried that too. As far as codecs, I mean things such as xvid, aac, divx,
etc... Tried various compatability options. Nothing works.

LOL! She has already played that one, and beat it. The one she is trying to
play is a little more 3D. Anyways, I think it is an issue with Vista and
there new graphics APIs. Not sure how to diagnose any furthur. I appreciate
all your help, but I don't think there is an easy fix for this.
