dwt after crash

My hard drive had crashed. After I got my PC back, I reinstalled FP 2003 and
imported my website from a travel drive. Everything looked fine.

Then I created a new page and I wanted to attach the dwt to it. But I
received a message that the template could not be attached as no editable
regions were created.
So I re-created the editable regions and attached the dwt to the new page.
However, I got suspicious. Usually when I had made any changes in the dwt,
it updated all the pages of my website. Now when I make a change in the dwt,
it updates only the new page and I have to apply the change manually on all
the other almost 50 pages!

I am thankful for any ideas on how do I get my dwt back!
Monika

Don't Import your web
Open your online site w/ FP and Publish your web (w/ the DWT in it) to a disc based web on your PC

Hi Stefan,

I opened FP and "published" my website from "remote to local."
However, when I wanted to attach the dwt to a new page, I got the same
message: "cannot be attached because it contains no editable regions."

Any other ideas?
Monika

Create a new blank page
Apply the DWT to it
Copy your content from the page you want to the new DWT controlled page in the editable regions

Thanks, Stefan. This is exactly what I thought I need to do.
None of my over 50 pages have the dwt attached any more. So, this will be
quite some work.

It there a way to prevent the detachment of the dwt from the pages in the
future (for example, in case of another hard drive crash)?

Make regular backups of the website by Publishing to another location
(example: external hard drive) with *no* HTML optimisation.
If you need to restore the backup, again Publish from the backup copy
without HTML optimisation. Do NOT use File->Import

As an alternative to publishing, use Windows Explorer to "send to
compressed folder" the entire web site, and copy the resulting .zip file to
a safe place. Restoration is achieved by unzipping the file to the
original location.

PS
And don't use the Optimize option when publishing
