How fast can you type? That is the 1M dollar question.
I never learned to touch type. But I'm a few % faster with the Dvorak.
I'm probably not a fair sample, my hands have a very slight shake ever
since I was a child, a gift of anti-seizure medication, which i
thankfully don't need anymore. I have to use qwerty at work, I fix
computers, and customers are a tad sensitive about screwing with their
keyboard layout especially if you forget to turn it back .
If I just type, and don't THINK, I'm around 30wpm.
If you don't think there is a good reason to switch, then there
probably isn't one.
I was also interested in if it could reduce strain on the fingers and
wrist.
Well, that's the whole point of dvoark. Also if you have already a
case of strain in one hand or the other, there are left and right
handed layouts. Dvorak worked with many amputees to develop these.
