is it possible to burn my projects onto a dvd for
playback on a dvd player with free software??

Maybe for a free trial period, but not for a long term... the codec needed
to make the needed MPEG2 files requires licensing and isn't free.

You can burn VCD discs that play in a DVD player using free software, but
the quality is low.
