I'm having a problem playing DVD's now. They used to play great. Now my DVD
rom drive sounds like its trying to read it but not finding anything. After a
minute or so it just stops trying. When I try to play it in PowerDVD, it says
there is no DVD in the drive (same in Windows Media Player). I tried
upgrading my decoder (I use PowerDVD) to the current version, but it didn't
help in reading the DVD's. I'd appreciate any help.

Any error messages?
Have you made any recent changes? Installations? Uninstalls etc?
Have you checked if the specific DVD-ROM is listed correctly
in device manager?
Have you ruled out DRM?
Is it only DVD-Video that has problems? Or all DVD's? (software? Data?)
Is your drive region locked? - The "usual" configuration is that
initially the first five plays of a DVD will not be confined to a
"region", after the fifth time, the drive will lock. Though you should
get an indication? There is software - "dvd genie", that can unlock
a region locked drive.
