Few weeks ago I have started to expirience problems with
my dvd-rw. I can listen/copy music, watching movies but
whenever I put in a data dvd, or a cd rom, even a game, I
get the info that the "dvd drive is empty" even if in the
properties I can see the capacity of my dvd. I don't
really know what did i do wrong. I've already sent my
laptop to a service technician that he change the first
dvd (a TEAK) that I had with a new TOSHIBA by telling me
that the previus were found damaged???? But as you
already understand the new one gives me the same- exactly-
problems.
Thank you in advance for your help

Not sure if that is your case, but I have found in the past that certain DVD
'backup' programs install their own drivers and that tends to mess up your
DVD drive assignments to the extent that it expects a DVD to be presented
throught 'their' driver (assigned drive-letter), while you inserted the dvd
into the drive (letter) you've always used. Wouldn't be a case of you having
started to use such software?
IIRC Alcohol 120% does something like that, it introduced something I
believe was called AXV SCSI CDROM device or something along those lines, but
I could be mistaken, it's quite a while back. I *do* however distinctly
remember this throwing my DVD drive usage at the time, so I chucked it out
again.
