I'm thinking of adding a DVD Writer to my PC. Any recommendations? anything
to avoid buying?

TIA

Look at the reviews on the Plextor 708A....does both formats of DVD and does
CD at 40X. Just got one, like it.

Recomendation: Plextor 708A

Avoid: Sony, any lower tier brand like Buslink (they tend to use older
drives from companies like Sony), and anything that isn't 8X.

Pioneer is one of the most reliable brands. Check out the 106-D varieties.
They burn both + and - and go for about $130.

Pioneer has a very high rating yes.
I bought a Liteon that does both formats and it works like a charm,
not one byte of incorrect data burned to date.
