I just installed a Dynex DVD Writer to my system. I'm gettin
something strange though when I check in the Hardware manager. Both
the writer and my Harddrive have the same location 0 (0). there are
on separate IDE cables. What's going on? Help!
Hardware manager? Do you mean Device Manager? Or perhaps you mean the
Disk Management part of the Computer Manager? If it's the former,
please explain what you mean by location.
If it's the latter, you're probably talking about the labels on the list
of physical drives. For instance on my (Windows 2000) machine, my
master drive on the primary IDE channel is a hard drive. That labels says:
Disk 0
Basic
37.27 Gb

To the left of the label is the logical drives on that physical drive.
In my case, it's just one logical drive -- C.
I have a single drive on my secondary IDE channel, a DVD-RW that's labeled:
CDRom 0
DVD (H

Both drives are marked with a "0", but that's ok since they are
different types. If I've guessed badly at what you're asking, I'm
sorry. If not, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
