Hi,
Long story short.
I built a new machine. Specs are below.
My DVD drive no longer sees CDs. It works fine with DVDs. I can't see
it being a Windows issue because it won't boot from CDs either.
BIOS shows the correct drive. LiteOn DVD+-R/RW
Win98se shows no yellow (conflict) flags in device manager.
ECS KT600-a Motherboard
AMD Sempron 2800
Apex Mid Tower Case Mdl "7C574-115" 350W P/S
Kingston 512 Meg PC2700
1 Maxtor HD 120Gig
1Seagate HD 160Gig. Not formatted. To be used for Linux. Tried 98se on
it but it seems 09se won't work over 137 Gig.
Lite On 16X DVD Dual Drive Mdl SOHW-1633S
BFG Asylum GeForce FX 5200 256 Meg
One more question please.
I was going to put Norton System Works 2003 on the machine. I read on
the web that it puts hundreds, maybe thousands?, of entires into the
registery. Is there a better way to keep the registry clean than
System Works? Maybe System Mechanic? I am going to keep Win98se even
though my main system will be Linux, as soon as I can get the CDs to
boot. :-(
Thanks in advance,
Steve
